What is The Ghost House?

The Ghost House is a walk-through theatre experience featuring live actors, magic and illusion, digital technology and dance.

The show takes place in a 12,000 sq foot space that has been transformed with incredible scenic detail into Cahoots’ very own Ghost House. You will be walking through the experience, entering various different rooms and watching exciting pieces of theatre, dance and magic as our ghost story unfolds.

Where is The Ghost House?

The Ghost House is hidden in Cityside Retail & Leisure Park, York Street, Belfast, BT15 1WA. Come in the front doors and head for Home Bargains to find us!

Can I buy a ticket at Cityside, before the show?

No, please book your tickets in advance online at belfastinternationalartsfestival.com, by phone on 028 9024 6609, or in person at the Visit Belfast Welcome Centre (beside Belfast City Hall).

What should I wear?

We recommend you wrap up warm for your visit to The Ghost House, as it will be a little chilly!

What time should I arrive?

Please aim to arrive at least 15 minutes before your designated time slot – unfortunately latecomers can not be admitted.

Can I leave and re-enter the production?

You can leave the Ghost House at any time, however, due to the nature of immersive theatre, if you leave mid-way through the production you will not be able to re-enter.

What is the recommended minimum age?

This experience is for children aged 8+. The Ghost House contains some dark spaces, ghostly goings-on, theatrical fighting, and spooky surprises. Parents and guardians with children are asked to consider this when booking their tickets. Anyone aged 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Can anyone under the age of 18 attend unaccompanied?

No – anyone aged 18 or under must also be accompanied by an adult (18+). You may be required to present ID as proof of age.

How long is the production?

You should allow up to 75 minutes for your visit to The Ghost House.

Is there an interval?

No, the performances takes place in one session.

Can I take photographs during the performance?

No – phones and cameras must be switched off throughout the performance, thank you!

Will I be able to bring food and drink into the Ghost House?

We ask that you do not bring food or drink into the Ghost House. A number of food outlets are available in Cityside for use before and after your visit.

What is an immersive production?

Audiences become participants in an experience rather than purely spectators at a show. The Ghost House is a walk-through experience, featuring multiple themed spaces, with magic, dance and live performances.

Will there be any seating?

Yes – there will be opportunity to sit in every room you enter, however they won’t always be conventional seats! You will be required to move around the House for short periods as the story unfolds.

Are there any special effects I should be made aware of?

The experience features some theatrical lighting and smoke as well as some loud sound effects. Auditory sensitivities or concerns should be raised with a member of staff before the show begins.

Is there a cloakroom?

No – please bring only small personal items for your visit to The Ghost House, as you will have to bring them with you on your journey.

Are toilets available throughout the performance?

No – toilets will be available for your use before and after your Ghost House experience, on the first floor in Cityside beside Funky Monkeys.

Do you have a gift shop?

Yes we do! A range of souvenir gifts will be available at the end of the experience.
